The Backwater Gospel
Bachelor film project 2011 from The Animation Workshop.
As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die.

@Horatio – I see. So you’d have no problem in a video depicting black folks eating watermelon, and fried chicken, with bones stuck through their noses? Or perhaps young girls who get pregnant for the explicit purpose of murdering their babies? Or perhaps Ghandi, or Martin Luther King, or some other beloved public figure cannibalizing their own followers? Pick the most important aspect of your life, check to see if it is typically maligned, and then maybe you’d have ground on which to stand.
WOW!!!
This reminds me of And the Ass Saw the Angel by Nick Cave. If you like this I really recommend reading that book.
@stegokitty It’s southern gothic, it’s supposed to be dark and grotesque stereotypes.
The animation is fabulous.
The story is sensationalistic, straw-man, bigoted nonsense.
The premise is reading the Bible, & fearing the Lord makes people into ignorant, self-presevering, psychopathic, murdering monsters.
I wonder if anyone in the viewing audience knows of such a person.
Or must they admit that, though the folks who follow after nutcases like the money-grubbing TV evangelists are the a-typical moron, the ones who actually study the Scriptures are honest, and generally kind people.
Saw this at AWA this year. Been looking for it everywhere, trying to remember what it was called.
